Today we got 2 liters from the barrel (filled in a bottle we brought with us). It tastes very tasty, of course, but we think 3 euros for Seidla is a bit outrageous. Another Bamberg smoked beer brewery charges just 1.40 euros for half a beer. We would have loved to pick up again, but probably not for this price ......

Always happy, my favorite brewery in Bamberg. I like the smoked beer exactly as it is interpreted here, namely as strong and spicy as possible. The real hit for me, however, is always the Oak Doppelbock at Christmas time - this year, due to the corona, it can only be tasted from the bottle in Berlin, next year, as usual, in the local restaurant. Ambience, staff and prices are great. Despite (or because of?) The tourist masses, honest, down-to-earth and professional, just as we know and appreciate it in Franconia. Keep it up!

Had to visit the ‘Smoky beer brewery!’ Went for a drink and stood outside the front. You can order your beer from a hole in the wall just inside the entrance. Pay a deposit on the glass and drink away... The beer is so good. So much smokiness... The Seidla Märzen. So good. There is a small shop inside where you can buy bottles and souvenirs to take away. When back a second time for food. Sat inside on the left in a small area. Service was very quick and the waitress was friendly. I had the Bamberger Zwiebel in Rauchbiersoße (a stuffed onion with pork mince served with mash potato and Smoky beer sauce).... Yum. Basically a giant meatball in an onion. They had a seasonal beer special on, an Urbock. Enjoyed this too. I even brought beers to take away!

The smoked beer is wonderful, the interior is beautiful & stunning, the food simple but locally inspired & sooo tasty, the staff are attentive & nice too. Met a group of locals who were so kind & entertaining. Best experience in Germany to date.

We stepped into the restaurant and initially stood quite helpless in the area. Due to the restrictions caused by the corona, we are now used to being placed. But you can wait a long time in the entrance area of ​​the Schlenkerla. Initiative is required here. After we found a table, we were served quickly, but with only one menu it takes a little longer before you can place your order. The food was served quickly, maybe too quickly, because it wasn't tasty. We had different dishes with the same sauce and the meat was quite dry. The atmosphere was anything but cozy. Since the windows and doors were open, there was a mighty draft. Although we kept our jackets on, it was very uncomfortable. Such a visit to a restaurant should remain in good memory, but we just wanted to get out of here as soon as possible. I thought that was a shame, because these beautiful walls actually have all the requirements for a great evening. But it was more like at the train station and the feel-good atmosphere didn't even begin to set in. The people who drank their beer standing in front of the restaurant seem to like it here. Not recommendable. We were first assigned a table and after 5 minutes an extremely unfriendly waitress came and told us that we could not sit here because this table was reserved. We were not offered another table either. That's not how you treat guests!

Both are then served with sauerkraut and with klosse, a giant potato dumpling (which I don't like). Then the beer is excellent, it goes down that a pleasure. Very low bill, € 36 with 2 beers. Really recommended.

I still like the Schäuferla: "so legga", that's not what they have to offer in my adopted home, Bochum. The smoked beer is still not mine, but my relatives liked it, so I also had to drive the driver home to Erlangen ? The waitresses are very friendly and sometimes have a casual saying on their lips in this stupid Corona time. Thank you, it was an experience for me and I will definitely come back to a Schäuferla.

We tasted their famous smoked beer: that was good too, so much so that we decided to buy 6 bottles at their shop (€ 9.90 6pcs of 500ml). Friendly and smiling service. Total for 2 main courses and the drink: 28 € It is not possible to reserve tables but at 18.30 we had no difficulty in finding a seat.
